Parmesan Sticks

Seem to be a little bit bland…some flavor…mild Parmesan…mild pepper…need more zing!!! I will be taking these to dinner tomorrow so…may try sprinkling with shredded Parmesan and finely chopped parsley then heating briefly in the oven to melt the cheese. Or…what do you think about sprinkling with few drops Sriracha, Parm and parsley??? We shall see. Complete report to follow!!!

2 c. flour
1/2 t. kosher salt
1 1/2 t. baking powder
1/4 c. Parmesan cheese, grated
1/2 t. black pepper, coarsely ground
3 T. shortening
1/2 c. cold water
1-2 T. olive oil
Dash of sea salt and cracked pepper

Oven 350 degrees F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment. In a food processor, place flour, kosher salt, baking powder, Parmesan cheese, black pepper and shortening. Pulse to blend. Pour the water through the top of the processor and continue to pulse until mixture forms crumbs. Add more cold water by teaspoons until mixture comes together.

On a floured board, roll out dough 1/4″ thick. Cut strips with pizza cutter (about 1/4″ wide). Place on parchment lined sheet and brush with olive oil. Sprinkle with additional pepper and sea salt.

Bake 350 degrees F for about 20-25 minutes until browned. Cool on rack.
